Which book would you save?

The temperature at which books burn

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Cortland Big Read Homepage

Many communities are getting involved in The Big Read. The big read isn't just a concept designed to get more people reading for enjoyment (which in itself is a fine goal) ... on a larger scale, reading makes people more aware of themselves as individuals within a global community. Reading involves critical thinking, which leads to critical literacy. Fahrenheit 451 is not just about a futuristic society in which books are burned, it is about a society that has ceased to place importance on critical literacy. You can read it with us and contribute to the wiki by adding and editing pages as we all achieve critical consciousness together! Enjoy!! -Steven Sws2910@aol.com email me for a password today!
